How To Heal Your Chakras With Crystals

Crystals have been around for thousands of years and many ancient civilisations have used them for healing the mind, body and spirit.

Ancient Egyptian Kings and Queens would wear certain crystals for protection, as well as for healing the energies of the body. The Lemurians and Atlantean basically ran their civilisations with crystals as well as the Mayans and Native American cultures, who used them for spiritual rituals and to aid physical healing.

Why would you try this ancient healing technique?

In today’s modern society I often hear people complain that they are feeling low in both energy and mood. They feel stressed or depressed and can’t seem to shake the feeling. They go about life dragging their feet instead of walking tall and facing life.

These feelings can sometimes be brought on by an imbalance in a persons aura or chakra system.

The aura is an energy field that surrounds the body. If a person feels depressed or has low energy the aura will be close to the body. On the other hand, if you are feeling energised and bouncing around with happiness then your aura can extend quite a few metres from the body. That’s why it can feel so great to be around happy-go-lucky people. You are picking up the subtle energy vibes from their aura and it feels fantastic!

The human chakra system

Our chakras are energy vortexes situated on different parts of our body. There are 7 main chakras that most healers work with, but there are many more minor chakras that may also need balancing. The following are the 7 main chakras and where they are situated:

  • Root or Base Chakra is located at the base of the spine
  • Sacral Chakra is located just below the navel
  • Solar Plexus Chakra is located below the breastbone
  • Heart Chakra is located in the centre of the chest
  • Throat Chakra is located on the throat just above the collar bone
  • Third Eye Chakra is located above the eyebrows in the centre of the forehead
  • Crown Chakra is located at the top of the head.

Each chakra has an associated colour as shown above.

How does a crystal healing session work in my clinic?

You walk into a warm, dimmed room. Soft music will be playing in the background and essential oils will be diffused throughout the air. You lie down on a massage table and I ensure you feel warm, comfortable, relaxed and safe.

To begin the session, using Reiki, I begin with gently holding your head. I may place a crystal, possibly amethyst or lapis lazuli, on your third eye to activate this chakra and help you recall relevant past events or past lives to bring awareness or insight into a current situation.

Continuing with Reiki, or by using a pendulum I would determine which areas of the body need attention, which crystal is required and how the crystal is to be placed on the body. It may be as simple as putting the crystal on the body or I may use a wand to direct the energy more precisely.

I may also place a drop of crystal essence into your aura. While the crystals vibrate in your energy field, I continue to use Reiki on other parts of the body. Occasionally I may receive messages which I would relay at the end of the session once you are awake.

Sometimes I am guided to use a crystal grid either under the table or on or around your body. I may place the crystals in a spiral pattern over your heart area to help heal an emotional wound or to help get inner guidance as to why you feel a certain way. Or I may place the crystals in a triangle shape over the third eye area, heart area and soul area to help the connection between the mind, body and spirit.

How can you use crystals to heal your charkras at home?

To start with you need to find a crystal you are drawn to or research which crystal would suit your particular requirement – you can do this by checking out my last post, here.

Ways to keep the crystal around you:

  • Wear it as jewellery or placing it on your body, like in your bra or your pocket. Just remember that they are there or they may fall out when you are changing at night!
  • Put them in your hand bag.
  • Keep one at work to help protect you from the negativity of others
  • Put one in your glass of water and sip from it during the day – just check that this is ok with the particular crystal you want to use as some crystals may dissolve in water and have toxic elements in them.
  • Place one in your car for protection from accidents and road rage.

So, as you can see, crystals can be used in many ways either in a clinic situation with a healer, or in your own life at home. Whatever you choose, please remember that crystals do have their own energy and it is important to show gratitude to the crystal for its help, and to also cleanse and reprogram your crystals regularly.

Now it’s your turn – have you used crystals to help heal your energy and emotions? Or are you going to give it a try? Let me know via the comments below!

  1. I love wearing crystals and keeping them on my desk. But I really love the idea of keeping one in the car or popping one in your water too. I’ve seen Lola Berry’s ‘Happy Place’ does water with crystals in it I think. Carolyn do you know what crystals are safe to go in water? I use glass water bottles so it will look so pretty too :). x

  2. I keep crystals by my bed and sometimes place them near me when practicing yoga or hold them to set an intention. I’d like to learn more about chakra cleansing.
